Vibration Therapy Treatments
Whole Body Vibration Therapy Treatments are a tremendous way to help increase bone density, improve muscle contraction and relaxation, and stimulation of the production of osteoblasts, which are cells that produce bone.
Vibration Therapy Treatments were created for the Russian space program when doctors found that astronauts suffered from bone loss and fractures at a much younger age than normal. Vibration therapy was then used to help strengthen astronauts’ bone mass and muscles. Today, NASA continues to use vibration therapy to help prevent bone loss.
During whole-body vibration therapy, your therapist will have you stand, sit, or lie down on a machine supported by a vibrating platform. During localized vibration therapy, your therapist will place a hand-held vibrating device on certain parts of your body. For example, they may put it on your calf or thigh muscles.
The pivotal movement mimics walking. When using oscillating whole body vibration equipment, the engaged muscles contract alternately as in normal walking motion, so the same muscle groups on both sides of the body are not contracted at the same time. This type of movement is generally supported by the medical community as a healthier vibration, as it has less vertical impact on the body, creates less stress on the organs, and maintains flexibility in the spine.
Vibration therapy offers a broad range of health benefits, including:
- Increased Circulation
- Lymphatic Drainage
- Muscle Strengthening
- Improved Balance
- Reduced Joint and Back Pain
- Stress Relief
- Stimulated Metabolism
- Improved Sleep
- Overall Wellness
